But no one loves Libre more than Janine. Their bond was so special that Janine has cried over Libre more than any dog she’s ever met. After a month of spending the time in the Vet, Janine took Libre home for good. There he met many friends, but his first friend was a cow. Yes, a 2,000-pound cow at the rescue named Meatball.

At home, Libre learned how to be a regular puppy – sat when told, learns his name and the likes. He was so friendly with a great personality that he would literally go home with any stranger he gets to meet. Because Libre’s story was so inspiring, a law was made and passed in his name. The Libre Law aims to help protect other dogs from abuse and neglect – like leaving animals out in the snow a felony. The Libre Law was passed by a unanimous decision. How cool is that!

It’s not every day that a law is approved and named after a man, much less after a dog! How inspiring is that! Today, Libre is living a happy and healthy life. He and his momma dedicate their lives in advocating for the protection of dogs. If you ask his momma what is the most important lesson that Libre taught her, it would be that there is no such thing as a lost cause. I definitely agree with that, and I’m sure everyone who knows Libre’s story would agree.

Libre was rescued by an amazing group of Good Samaritans who nursed him back to health. They never gave up, gave him the chance he deserves and inspired many people in the process. Libre’s story is indeed a living proof that miracles do happen. It may be true that he wasn’t meant to live, but he proved otherwise. He is such an inspiration to everyone, and his story is such an incredible one.
