The rescue was a staggering 12 hours of hard work. It was raining hard at night when the rescue commenced. Maya was in her makeshift house but did not give a fight when they placed a collar attached to a leash around her neck. She willingly went with her rescuers and walked all the way to the rescue vehicle. He was very much ready to leave hell behind, and even tried to bring herself up in the vehicle, but it was clear that her life living as a stray dog has taken a toll on her.

She tried jumping on the vehicle but needed her rescuer to help lift her up and load her in the back – a sign she is too exhausted from living an abandoned life.

She willing went inside the cage and let her female rescuer help keep her warm by drying off her rain-coated fur. They traveled across the country, a long way from where she lived for many years. As of today, she is still in intensive care being treated for her wounds.

I found another video showing Maya’s progress. In this video, she finally received a well-deserved bath two days after arriving at the hospital. This is something special for Maya, as this could be her very first decent bath after how many years.

It was evident that Maya was hesitant at first in taking a bath, but soon calmed down after feeling relief. The medicated bath Maya badly needed was finally happening, and more baths are needed to help heal her many wounds. It was clear she had more wounds that were not visible before the bath, and you can see parts of her flesh that resulted from her large wound found in different parts of her body.

Maya is on her way to recovery, yet how many dogs are left in the streets, junkyards, and deserts or any other place when all they need is a family who will take care of them? How many of these poor animals have to stay under the intense heat of the sun? How many have to endure the seeping cold rain that threatens to weaken their immune system? How many dogs have to stay out while it is snowing hard?
