Bernese Mountain Dog Heard Cries For Help Coming From The Water – Rescues Couple From A Rip Tide

Track Your Dog At All Times - Do You Know Where Your Dog Is? We do.

The man was closer to the shore and tried to reach out to his wife who was quite a distance away. She was caught in the rip tide and the man too was unable to steer his swim. He swam a hundred yards towards his wife but as he got further into the rip tide it became difficult for him to stay the course. Rip tides are tricky, uncertain and a challenge even for lifeguards, let alone casual swimmers.
The calls for help alerted Nico who immediately took the plunge. He swam all the way to the wife and tried to stay close despite the rip tide working against them. The man shouted out to his wife to grab anything she could, perhaps his tail or body or anything. The wife did and somehow managed to cling onto Nico. On his part, Nico swam back, fighting all the way not to get dragged away by the riptide. He did not just rescue the woman but also the man, who were eventually safe back on the beach reunited with their children.
Dan Clarke, obviously a proud owner by then, was also surprised. Nico did what seasoned lifeguards are trained to do. What is even more surprising is that dogs in general, are not naturally deft at swimming in rip tides. They can swim in calm waters and can also manage ordinary waves. But they are not naturally good at rip tides. Nico’s feat is not just heroic but awe-inspiring.
