How to treat Mange?

It is best to take your canine buddy to his vet to have him checked and confirm if his skin is really infected with mange. The vet will mostly do a physical exam and skin scrape. This will determine the type of mange your dog has and medication your dog needs. Medication can be in a form of oral or topical medicine, injections or medicated soaps and dips.

It’s amazing how a group of a concerned citizen can turn a dog’s life around. They could have let him die, but they did not even think twice about helping a senior dog who only has a few months or years to live. They took the opportunity to help, without being certain of the outcome.

Prevention is always better than cure, but if your dog already has it, don’t think twice about bringing your pet to the vet. Don’t let him live an itchy and uncomfortable life caused by unwanted parasitic mites.

It was not clear if he used to have an owner or not, but as a stray dog, it is very easy for him and any other dog to be infected with mange. Preventive measures do not apply to stray dogs as they obviously have no resources to do so, and no owners to care for them.

It’s sad to think that there are more dogs in the streets, shelters, pounds, pet shops and mills than in houses where they can be truly loved and cared for. If only there more people who are able to adopt dogs than buy one at the stores, them fewer dogs who have been treated badly, hurt neglected or thrown away will find a better home this time around.

Rescued dogs have the biggest hearts, and crave the love and care of foster families. They’ve been through a lot, but they are not “broken dogs”. They may have a cruel past, a broken heart, but really, they are the best kind of dog in the world. I should know, I’ve been a proud owner of many rescue dogs up until now.

Help change the world and be a better place for rescue dogs, and adopt one today.
