When you look at the history of relationships between men and dogs, it’s very apparent that it’s one built on mutual loyalty, trust, and love. While many cynics stipulate that it’s simply evolutionary biology on the part of the dogs to simply befriend men in exchange for food and shelter, I like to think that this article goes to show just how close and valuable the relationship between a dog and a man can be.

While most people look negatively on the relationship between the dog and person, I think this Craigslist posting, whether it’s real or not, is a good example of just how close and important the relationship between a man and a dog can be.

When reading the article, I couldn’t help but think of all the times animals were made secondary to the will of human beings. Too often, we cater to the needs of those around us simply because they are also people. By doing this, we put the dogs on an inferior level, and perhaps, we go as far as to discredit their desires and equity in relation to being members of the household. Whether people like the idea of treating animals as equals or not, I strongly stand in favor of it for a few reasons.

Just by owning many animals, I learned, just as the Craigslist ad writer did, just how incredibly loyal dogs are to their owners. Once we realize that our dogs are no different than our other family members, perhaps then can we finally may leeway against abuse towards animals.

She is a purebred from a wealthy area and I have had her 4 years. She likes to play games. Not totally trained. Has long hair so she’s a little high maintenance, especially the nails, but she loves having them done. Stays up all night yapping but sleeps while I work. Only eats the best, most expensive food.
